Bam Bam Bakehouse
Mermaid Beach
Bam Bam Bakehouse is a Mermaid Beach institution and one of the most beautifully located cafés and bakeshops on the Gold Coast, looking south out over the serene greenery of Mermaid Park.
This modern bakeshop and international café occupies the ground level of number 2519 and is an ode to gorgeous styling.
Before you even see the incredibly sophisticated food, you’ll feast your eye on sumptuous seafoam hex-tiled display pastry cabinet, the pressed metal, polished concrete, exposed brick and upcycled timber furnishings, and the leafy foliage and fragrant blooms. You’ll soak up the leafy park views and catch glimpses into the bakehouse which is where the magic happens.
This delightful leafy setting, adorned with hanging plants, terracotta pots and classic hardcover books is the perfect place to park your bike, pram or furry friend and take a break. The venue offers handy off-street parking adjoining the restaurant and multiple child-friendly seating areas, so feel free to bring the little ones along.
This is where your sense of scent takes over. Bam Bam is a French-style patisserie brought to you by the same owners of renown Custard Canteen in Tallebudgera and Cubby Bakehouse in Chinderah. This is the flagship of these talented bakers and pastry chefs who hand make their puff pastry onsite. While Custard Canteen crafts a most authentic Portuguese custard tart outside of the motherland and Cubby is known for its divine baguettes, Bam Bam champions a spectacular signature croissant. Three days in the making the aroma of the freshly baked golden flaky butter croissants are irresistible even when flanked by sugar-rolled cruffins topped with home-made raspberry jam and vanilla Chantilly cream.
Bam Bam also takes coffee seriously, with a bean of choice from Marvell Street’s single origin El Paraiso Colombian roast which delights caffeine connoisseurs with notes of mandarin, nougat and cacao. If your thirst extends beyond coffee, Bam Bam is fully licensed meaning you can sip a smoked paprika margarita or an Ink gin and tonic or a Sone and Wood Pacific Ale, or perhaps a Bam Bam Mimosa with your chosen treat.
An elaborate bistro-style menu offers brunch options all day, headlined by the simple ham & gruyere croissant closely followed by the bacon and egg croissant, Bam Bam’s Avo, Benny, BLT, burger and French toast. Discerning diners might also like to try the sweet corn fritters, the Karaage chicken, the egg Nasi or the Green Tea noodle salad.
