Blessing of the Sun
Mermaid Beach
Blessing of the Sun is a warm and welcoming hole-in-the-wall eatery, dishing up a delicious range of plates that take diners on a flavour-filled journey from Japan to Italy and beyond.
Located in the former Lovechild Kitchen & Bar premises in Mermaid Beach, this quaint 26-seater venue is small in size, yet big in flavour and heart.
The peach-hued space features warm timber tones and pops of greenery, making you feel as though you've stepped into chef Kohta Iwamoto's very own living room.
This atmosphere is further bolstered by the clear view of the kitchen where you can watch the chefs in action cooking up a flavoursome selection of dishes such as the house citrus cured smoked salmon with capers, white onion, dill and crème fraiche, Japanese curry arancini, cauliflower karaage with aioli and seasonal mushroom gnocchi with truffle cream and pecorino.
Completing the menu is a selection of local craft beers, wines and specialty cocktails like the Tropic Caipirinha (Capricorn pineapple rum, pineapple & ginger syrup, fresh lime), Yuzu Highball (Jameson, yuzu juice, soda, yuzu peel) and Kabosu Southside (Capricorn Summer Gin, Kabosu Liqueur, fresh lime, mint). Those with more classic taste can opt for a Magarita (classic, tommy's or spicy), Espresso Martini or Old Fashioned.
